Glucose vs. Fructose

This is a little write up I did for a Training/Nutrition community on Facebook regarding Glucose vs Fructose. Please watch the video of Evan as it is the main source of information.

There is often the question of conventional carbs versus fruits.

I’ve always erred on the side of caution with carbs no matter what type they are, but I have always found it funny how people justify that eating an entire plate of mixed fruit is somehow better than eating an entire plate of pasta or even a couple of candy bars. I’ve been known to use the analogy of, “Screw an apple, I’d rather eat some Sour Patch Kids” and that has gotten me some weird looks.
For those that train hard on a consistent basis, we benefit more from Glucose because it gives our body the additional option to fill our muscle’s glycogen stores with it. We cannot do that with Fructose.

Nutrition is a sore subject for people and I guarantee there is someone out there who disagrees with me on this. I don’t care. The goal is to get you to think about what you’re putting into your body. Just because race fuel has a higher octane, doesn’t necessarily mean it is optimal for your engine.
